Our inspiration
Aventine Hill is one of the seven hills of Rome and home to the Aventine Triad of Ceres, Liber and Libera. These deities were worshipped by and were closely associated with the Roman plebs – the common citizens of Rome.
Ceres was the Roman goddess of agriculture and the center of the Triad. Her laws and rites of worship protected the agricultural cycle.
Background
The international cannabis industry is massively underinsured, when its participants can get insurance at all. Existing insurers are largely unregulated surplus lines companies, which charge higher premiums while offering less coverage (relative to what a more heavily regulated admitted carrier would offer).
Aventine Hill intends to correct this market dislocation by forming an admitted insurer to protect cannabis farmers, processors and retailers, in the same way that Ceres protected the harvests of the ancient Romans.
